Location, location, location is everything in property. And that’s never more apparent than in the latest research revealing where homes are selling fastest across the UK.
Sellers north of the border – in particular Edinburgh and Falkirk – find their properties flying out of the estate agent in just 27 days.
But just south of the border, in the Lancashire seaside resort of Blackpool, it takes on average 71 days from initial marketing to a seller receiving an offer.
Get pricing correct
Online estate agent listings site Zoopla looked at property sales in the 50 largest towns and cities in the UK, revealing that the average home sells in 56 days.
Annabel Dixon of Zoopla said: “The key is to get your pricing correct, meaning the best way to sell your home quickly is to ask for its true value given the current market.”
In Zoopla’s top 10 fastest-selling property market list, Scottish locations took the top four places with Glasgow and Stirling just behind the top two with their homes selling in 31 and 32 days, respectively.
Average time on sale
Property in Cardiff and Coventry sells in an average 37 days; in Newport, south Wales, in 40 days; in 41 days in Nottingham and Birmingham; and in 42 days in Mansfield.
The top 10 places where property takes longest to sell are Blackpool (71 days); London (70); Newcastle (68); Hemel Hempstead (65); Bradford and Reading (64); Preston (63); Telford (62); Doncaster (60); and Swansea (59).
