Busy New Year for Conveyancers set to continue

In 2012, Fridaysmove has helped more people than ever with their Conveyancing, Home Buyers Surveys and Energy Performance Certificates. And our busiest period ever is set to continue, despite uncertain forecasts in the housing market after the stamp-duty holiday ends in March.

Busy New Year for Conveyancing at Fridaysmove

Since we rang in the New Year the Fridaysmove office has been buzzing. In the seven weeks since January 1st, we have assisted 1200 clients to move home.

The period has been marked by a certain revival in UK housing markets. Recent figures from HM Revenue and Commons report this January as the most active start to a year since 2008. Some 64, 000 homes were sold.

Mortgage lending also spiked. Buyers borrowed 10% more than during January 2011.

These uplifting figures should be digested in the context of the looming end to the stamp-duty holiday.

Council of Mortgage Lenders chief economist Bob Pannell said that the bump in activity was due to “first-time buyers seeking to complete deals before the stamp duty concession ends in March”.

Can the busy Conveyancing market continue?

Various pundits are now debating whether the market will sustain some growth beyond this artificial spike. The debate hinges around the relative impact on consumer confidence of two major elements:

  • The continuing interest rate reprieve and associated drop in inflationary pressures
  • The Eurozone crisis

Fridaysmove expects continued growth in Conveyancing

Fridaysmove Director Andy Boast argues that:

“While the market can explain a portion of our success this year, it does not explain such an astronomical set of data.

“It may be that the young people who are mostly responsible for the housing spike are more likely to use the Internet to find the best, cheapest services. Also, those wanting to complete purchase by March need a company that can guarantee them a short turn around. It was with these clients in mind that we set up our Expeditionary Panel. ”

In reaction to the Government’s decision to end the stamp-duty concession, Fridaysmove set up an Expeditionary Panel of solicitors in order to service the needs to first home buyers and complete their sales before March 24th.

“But to try and explain our last two months solely through environmental variation is to ignore the obvious. Fridaysmove are offering people something that they want – cheap, fast, professional Conveyancing and Property Services from local firms at the click of a button. There is literally no one else out there offering a service which makes the legal aspects of moving home as efficient and easy as Fridaysmove. ”
