The biggest modular housing scheme yet seen in the UK is expected to be constructed in Cambridgeshire.
Homes England have been running a competition to award the contract for the build, inviting modular building specialists and architects to bid for the multi-million pound project.
A team of developer Urban Splash and architects Proctor & Matthews are the hot favourites to win the bid and design and build 440 homes at Northstowe in Cambridgeshire.
Northstowe will be the biggest new town created in England since Milton Keynes as part of a huge government project to create an urban corridor from Oxford to Cambridge.
A total of 10,000 homes are being built at Northstowe, a sustainable new town created on the site of a former army and RAF base five miles from Cambridge city centre.
The modular homes are part of the sustainability project, with a minimum of eight completed homes expected to be delivered every month.
