Land charges / Local Authority Searches form part of the Exeter conveyancing process when buying and selling houses.

These Conveyancing Searches are designed to ensure that purchasers of properties are not caught unawares by obligations on those properties. Searches are submitted by Conveyancing solicitors conducting conveyancing in Exeter to the Council to enquire what restrictions etc. there are on a particular property.

Services available include:

  1. Inspection of Land Charges Registers
  2. Personal Conveyancing Searches – 24 hours notice required -(Appointments for the following day must be received by 1pm) Maximum of 5 searches per company per day.

Normal Exeter City Council Opening Hours :

9. 00am to 5. 00pm

Personal Search Appointments:

9. 30am to 12. 30pm
2. 30pm to 4. 00pm

The Land Charges Register is held Electronically and on a Card Index System.
