An independent study of 1, 000 UK conveyancing property solicitors has revealed some interesting results about the reliance and importance attached to the drainage and water search – CON29DW – and, on a regional basis, has shown that Northumbrian Water Property Solutions (NWPS) is number one for customer satisfaction.
When asked specifically about seven separate areas of satisfaction, respondents from North East law firms conducting conveyancing scored NWPS highest in all categories, with an average score of 4. 7 out of a possible 5. Categories included ease of ordering, quality and clarity of information provided, speed of turnaround times and overall customer service.
When analysing some of the results, over 70% of property solicitors were “very satisfied” with both clarity and quality of information and ease of ordering.
One property solicitor commented: “It is quicker, we get them [searches] straight back, it is more efficient than going through a third party. ”
Focusing on the conveyancing CON29DW search, the study found that, nationally, 90% of property solicitors would recommend that their clients order this conveyancing search if it was no longer a compulsory document under the Home Information Pack Regulations. This rose to 96% in the North East. This was higher than any other search report and highlights the importance of the enquiry in the conveyancing process. In the North East, over 80% of respondents believed that the CON29DW search should be compulsory in all residential property conveyancing transactions.
The results of the study show that the CON29DW search is nationally recognised as a vital part of the conveyancing process, regardless of the current HIP rules.
