The Walsall Chronicle's edition for 18 August reports that new housing should soon start on a derelict site between Castle Street and The Green. Solicitors Conveyancing in Walsall hope that this will herald a resurgence for new development in the town.

Developers had obtained planning permission from Walsall Council some two years ago, but building work stalled with the downturn in the economy. However it is now reported that a further application has been made to vary some details of the plan to overcome long-term maintenance concerns, with a view to starting building shortly. The Chronicle reports local Councillor Bill Madeley as saying “I'm all in favour of this development. It has been an area that has not been used for a few years.”

The development will comprise 22 flats in three blocks.  Solicitors Conveyancing in Walsall can undertake the Conveyancing of flats, but it is important to employ a Property Lawyer who is fully conversant with the acquisition newly-built homes.

Other interesting news reported on the Walsall property front is the planning application for the conversion of the former Royal Exchange public house on Wolverhampton Street. The plans would see the conversion of the building to four one-bed flats and a two-bed apartment, with parking spaces.

Meanwhile the historic Great Barr Hall near Walsall, a grade II* listed building, is at present on offer for a price reputedly in excess of £3 million. Currently being marketed by agents Van Weenen of 1a Weston Road, Olney, the house set in fifty acres of parkland is described as “A romantic ruin now in need of complete restoration.”

Few people are now likely to consider buying such a property as a home. However anyone considering purchasing a more modest historic residence which is a listed buildings, or is in one of Walsall's conservation areas, should seek advice from Solicitors Conveyancing in Walsall. The planning regime is considerably more restrictive than for ordinary homes, and many works require special permission.
