Putney residents living in it’s conservation areas are being invited to a series of public meetings this month where they can say what they think is special about their neighbourhoods and how they should be protected.   The results could impact the future of Conveyancing in Putney if conservation areas are to be extended or Schemes of Management introduced.

The feedback from the discussions and meetings will be part of an on-going review of local conservation areas.

Areas currently under review are Charlwood Road & Lifford Street; East Putney; the Heaver Estate; Westmead and West Putney.

Each area has its own individual 'character appraisal’ which contains a profile of the area, covering its history and form of development, important buildings and townscape, plus prevalent building features and materials.

The local council has a duty to preserve and enhance the character and appearance of its conservation areas in Putney. This means that any new development should be carried out in a way that does not adversely affect these special characteristics of certain areas in Putney.

The meetings were held at the following venues: Westmead - Dover House Road sports pavilion, Dover House Road, SW15 : Putney - Putney Leisure Centre, Dryburgh Road SW15 ; East Putney – St Thomas a Becket church, Santos Road SW18 ; Charlwood Road & Lifford Street - Putney Library, Disraeli Road SW15
