The pre-contract stage is when conveyancing solicitors research as much information as they can for the pre-completion stage. This period of the conveyancing process for residential property is normally completed over a period of four to six weeks. However, delays can occur if solicitors find any defects that require expert analysis.
The seller's solicitor will develop a pre-contract package for the purchaser, which will contain a draft contract and a general overview of the land. It will also include the terms and conditions of the sale, proof of the seller's title and any new findings about the property.
