When will HIPs be abolished ?

There is little clarity of how far up the political agenda the issue of HIPS currently stands. For stakeholders involved in the Conveyancing  and HIP industry, as well as home-buyers and sellers, it is unclear as to when HIPS will be abolished. There is considerable speculation with regard to the legal process of suspending or scrapping the HIP.

Varying opinions range from immediate suspension to previous statements that the intention would be to commission a consultation prior to making any changes.

Whilst there is little doubt that the country is in a precarious financial and economic position, the question is raised of whether Home Information Packs should be a high priority. Personally, I do not believe that there is a possibility that the abolition of HIPs will kick- start the property market.
