Government Announce End of HIPs. EPC to Stay!

The new Conservative Liberal Democrat Coalition Government has announced their intention to abolish the HIP (Home Information Pack).  The Coalition Agreement released 12th May 2010, simply states in section 11 (interestingly the Environment section);

The parties agree to implement a full programme of measures to fulfil our joint ambitions for a low carbon and eco-friendly economy, including:

Retention of energy performance certificates while scrapping HIPs.

When will the HIP be scrapped?

No time scale has been given relating to legislation, so we predict that a period of HIP confusion will ensue!  Equally there is no suggestion about exactly how the EPC will be retained or of any period of Public Consultation relating to this change in the HIP legislation.

As promised, Fridaysmove will soon be announcing an amazing deal wherein we will offer a full refund to most of our customers if they buy a HIP unnecessarily from us.  Watch this space!
