HIP to RIP ?

With the new coalition beginning to find its sea legs, the future of the Home Information Pack is looking increasingly bleak.   Though the government has several major issues to focus on, it appears that a Tory promise will be firmly fulfilled in this area.

Elimination of  the HIP does not eliminate the need for property information, and though it may be a case of 'RIP for the HIP' , home-buyers still require a sound knowledge of the property they are purchasing.

Though the Energy Performance Certificate may be all that is retained, the conveyancing process is eased by accurate information regarding local land charges, planning enquiries and building certifications, amongst other aspects currently included in a HIP.

Whilst the process can be slowed down by a lack of information as well as unexpected surprises, well-informed buyers can be increasingly confident in making better decisions.
