The Energy Performance Certificate offers an energy performance rating for your property which provides prospective property buyers with an accurate assessment of the property's energy consumption.  Also, it comes with a list of practical measures and ways in which home owners can reduce fuel bills and carbon emissions.  The EPC uses an A to G system of rating, which is almost identical to the ones that are used on washing machines and fridges.
