The costs involved in Probate work will vary based on the solicitor in Brighton you appoint. Some Probate firms charge a fixed fee – usually based on the value of the Estate, whereas others will base a fee on an hourly rate. If you are paying on an hourly basis, there is less certainty as to what the final costs will be so it is sometimes better to negotiate a fixed fee, if possible, especially where the Estate is substantial. The fees should be specified by the solicitor in the initial client care letter. If the probate becomes more complicated or extra work is necessary then the solicitor will usually charge more. Normally you would be given prior notice in writing if the probate fees are to increase.
