'Wales Online' reports a shortage of development land in Cardiff which will impact the future of the local community. The news sparked after a recent land study claimed that space for new dwellings in the Welsh capital would run out in approximately 2.2 years.

A representative from Cardiff Council (County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff, CF10 4UW) said: “We don’t accept these conclusions as the study doesn’t count some 4,500 dwelling units which already have planning permission, subject to legal agreements being signed. If these sites were added we would meet the five year supply. It should also be noted that the current market conditions have shown a significant drop in house building rates to approximately half of previous rates. This means that the land available will last much longer.”

Conveyancing in Cardiff continues as a significant number of new build developments are currently underway throughout the city. Home builders, Bellway, have several projects taking place including a new Quayside development at Mermaid Quay. Situated in the heart of the Cardiff Bay area, the collection features 1 and 2 bedroom apartments ranging from £132,995 to approximately £215,995. There are nearby commuter links to the M4 and London is only one hour and fifty minutes away by high speed trains.

Brookthorne Heath is another new development offering modern living in the community of Llanishen just four miles from Cardiff city centre. Potters Mews in Rumney Village is also close to the heart of the city and is situated in one of Cardiff’s most popular and sought after suburbs.
